I went to sooo many doctors. Crap…i already took the tylenol…cant double dose, right? I take paracetamol and codiene. A very good medication would be vicoprofen, which is hydrocodone and ibuprofen. Kissy July 9, I average about 12 Advil a day for the first three days of my period every month. But I think the packaging had two tablets per dose. It's still the same kind of thing as ibuprofen NSAID so you want to space it out and not take it on an empty stomach, but I find it's more effective on period pain than plain ibuprofen.

My doc at the time switched me to prescription strength naproxen before Aleve was available OTC in Canada for a few months, but I found that the only thing that really made a significant difference in my cramps was going on birth control, specifically for cramping.
Another hour later I was having severe pain and going to the bathroom frequently. There really needs to be better care and research for those of us with periods from hell.
Regular painkillers do nothing, vicodin did nothing but make me nauseous and loopy, gabapentin helps the back pain, but so far nothing has helped the whole gamut of pain I get on my period. PitBulLover 6 years ago Wedding: The past year or so, it's crept up so that now I take up to the max recommended dosage of 6 pills a day, for days in a row so that my workday doesn't suck real bad. When a woman takes painkillers for menstrual pains, it means they don't want to feel anything!
